Each year, Autism Link organizes a Halloween party for all our students and therapists to have a day of fun. It is a day where everybody gets to dive into their imagination, and be anything they want to be!
On the 26th of October 2018, Autism Link held it's 8th in-house Halloween party where we encouraged parents to dress up their children for a day of fun and activities at the centre.
Staff of Autism Link were split into teams and each assigned a specific area of the centre that they'd have to decorate for this event. It was heart warming to see all the therapist planning and preparing for this occasion and to be able to see creative, silly, and some spooky ideas come to life!
Our therapists also prepared some games, goodie bags and even snacks to include in this joyous occasion. Some parents even sent in more food for the party!
Some of the games included 'Pumpkin toss' where the kiddos get to throw balls into a big pumpkin box, 'Knock down em' monsters' where they used a bowling ball to knock down mummified pins and even two homemade pinatas filled with candy! The kiddos absolutely loved it when the candy fell out!
Despite making sure that the decorations got up in time, our therapists had to also work on behaviors during the party as some kiddos would need to tolerate loud sounds, wait in line for their turn to play the games and even tolerating their costumes as it is something new to them. After the games, all the students were given their goodie bags with not only snacks but also a simple art and craft activity that they can do upon resuming their therapy session.
Overall, the party was a huge success! All to which was owed to the cooperation and generosity from the parents as well as the entire staff of Autism Link for their effort and dedication in really making this event as engaging and fun as possible. We hope all our kiddos enjoyed themselves as much we did! Looking forward to the next party already!
